19 Weeks Pregnant.

Ok I'm hopeless at blogging now. But here I am again :)

Still coughing like a 50 year old chronic smoker.
Sometimes it feels like I'm ready to cough my lungs out.
Went to see the doctor again last Friday evening, and he finally relented and gave me antibiotics for this really obvious viral infection that has only gotten worse and not better.
So far, not helping yet.
And still no cough medicine.
Not allowed.
Sigh.
It's keeping me awake all night and I hate it.
Just when I need my sleep and my rest.

Plus point?
Maybe the little one will get so used to my loud obnoxious coughing that he/she won't be scared and be woken up by loud noises such as my coughing.
That's a good plus point.

Saturday we went to Little Creature Dining Hall in the city for dinner cos it was a birthday gathering for one of baby's colleagues.
Tiring.
Got there at 7pm, didn't get to eat till almost 9pm, didn't get home before 10.30pm.
I'm so not meant for late-night activities anymore.
And it wasn't even late.
Sheesh.

Sunday,
movie marathon!
Eclipse and Karate Kid with 45 minutes for lunch in between.
Tiring.
Those cinema seats are so not meant for a pregnant woman with back problems like me.
Let alone for more than 4 hours.
Those 2 were long movies!
But I enjoyed the movies with baby, Kelly and Eric :)
Jackie Chan may be old, but he's still damn cool...

Overall, tired.
Plus lack of sleep from constantly coughing, drinking water and getting up to pee in the middle of the night.
Not to mention that it's getting difficult for me to turn from side to side when sleeping,
so I have to actually wake up and spend a good 10-20 seconds changing positions when my hips start screaming bloody murder cos I've been on one side for too long.
And yes, I am completely aware that I'm only 19 weeks and not even halfway there yet.
The best is yet to be.

This week will be the longest week ever,
simply because there's way too much happening towards the end of the week for me to look forward to.
So these few days will just be an annoyance that I have to get through in order to get to the end of the week.

Thursday - Ultrasound at 3.30pm. We find out if our little one is healthy and free of developmental and anatomical problems, plus we can finally answer the all-important question of boy or girl? Well, that's if the kid cooperates and not keep his/her legs tightly crossed la. Boy? Girl? Boy? Girl? Boy? Girl? :D

Some time between Thursday 5pm and Friday noon - Overall grades released via SMS. I find out if I managed to get through my 2 units this semester and how well (or how badly) I fared. Anxiously anticipating...

Friday to Monday - Gold Coast!!! Bye bye Melbourne and hello (hopefully) sunny Gold Coast! Only for 4 days, but it'll be 4 blissful days where we won't have to worry about anything but each other, and bask in the relaxing sun, go to the theme parks and eat whatever we wants. Holidays are not a time for budgets, and so we will adhere to that golden rule :) Our last 'holiday' together was Dec 2008 where we spent 5 days at Phillip Island. Goodness only knows when our next one can possibly be. So time to relax and enjoy!

So you see? How am I supposed to get through the next 2 and a half days, not even including today?
Oh well.
We all gotta do what we gotta do right?

I think we've pretty much decided on the main pieces of furniture we're gonna buy in preparation for the little one.
The initial list I had included:
Cot
Changing Table
Chest of Drawers

As of this morning, thanks to a lightbulb moment I had when I was in the shower,
the list only has:
Cot.

Yeah!
We'll swop the 2 study tables in the living area so baby's computer will be on the larger one,
and we'll move the smaller one into the nursery.
The futon will have to be moved outside to make space for the cot,
and we can rearrange our stuff so that our 4-cubby shelf can serve as the chest of drawers for our little one.
Right now all it has is sheets, towels, extra blankets and my bags.
We'll put it under the table in the nursery.
The table can be an all-purpose one to change baby, bathe baby, etc.
How genius of me :)
Nursery won't be much of a spectacle as much as I would have loved to decorate it nicely,
that'll have to do on a tight budget.
All we need to get now is our cot, which would probably be about $300 plus.
I haven't even started talking about car seat and stroller and other random stuff.
We'll save that discussion for another time.
Oh well.
It'll be worth it :)
I've saved us about $300-$500 just like that, so I'm awfully proud of myself now.
Let me bask in that for a little while.

Fascinating tidbit of information for this week:
Never thought the deepest section of your belly button will ever see the light of day if you're an 'innie' like me?
Well, wait till pregnancy.
Cos right now, we're observing a never-seen-before phenomenon.
When I cough, my belly button pops out and that seems to freak baby out a little bit cos he said so :p
When I'm not coughing, I'm almost a 'flattie'.
Almost.
Doubt I'll be able to avoid becoming a total 'outtie' before this little one is done slow roasting.
Fascinating stuff.
Oh and guess what?
23 years worth of belly button lint that I couldn't get to before, that were sitting right at the bottom of the pit, has now been eradicated.
I have a clean belly button.
Envious much? :p
I could never get it this clean whenever I set out on a belly-button-cleaning mission before.
Finally!

We're 19 weeks pregnant!
ALMOST halfway there.
ALMOST.
The little one is kicking and tumbling and having a freaking party in there every so often now.
I love :)
Baby loves what this pregnancy has done to my boobs more than anything else.
Who am I to complain?
It helps when my hormones are raging and I jump him like he's my rabbit prey and I'm the hunting hound.
All's good :)
