No more jabs! (For now anyway...)

Xander had his chicken pox (varicella) vaccine this morning and it will be his last for a long time, until he turns 4, so that's really good news to me. I HATE having him vaccinated but no matter how much research I do, I cannot make myself not vaccinate. Don't ask me why. I've read more about the cons of vaccinations than the pros of it, but my mind views the pros as outweighing the cons. I just hope I'm right.

I've been done with exams for about 1 week now but have been engrossed in reading the Fifty Shades trilogy, which would explain my complete absence from all things Internet in the past week, including this little space of mine.

So what's going on here? Let's see...

Starting to look around for rental homes that would suit us because we are planning to move out of our current place when the lease is up in October. It's a tough thing to do because of a few reasons. I love where we live now. The view, the location, the convenience, the small cosy low-maintenance space. But the rent is going way above what we can afford at the moment, and it is likely to go up again should we decide to renew the lease. Plus we are hoping to have a bigger space, for a hopefully slightly bigger family in the near (or not so near, depending) future.

Making some changes in our lives and lifestyle. Take for example this past Sunday. My beloved husband spent the day cleaning the windows and scrubbing mould off the walls (wet winter, ugh), with a bottle of homemade cleaner, made of water, vinegar, and tea tree oil. Then he cooked dinner while I took our kid to the park. When I came back, he was cleaning the kitchen floor, on his hands and knees, with a cloth and small pail of water instead of a mop. First of all, can I just say that I love this man to infinity and beyond? Second of all, the homemade cleaner thing was his idea... I had it in my mind for some time already but never brought it up for fear that he'd balk at my "green-ness". But this past weekend he tossed out almost all our store bought chemical toxic junk cleaners and made his own. It was awesome. Even he said he never thought there would be a day like this for him.

Xander is talking up a storm and putting together words with multiple syllabus and sentences and demanding lots of attention so most of my day is spent with him. That makes me very very busy. And very very happy.

I have 3 more weeks of holidays before Semester 2 begins and I have big plans to embark on projects to create activities and stuff for Xander. Part of my efforts to make an intentional and conscious effort towards his learning, while keeping things as organic and natural and child-led as possible. I'm not even sure where to begin, but I've got a few ideas and I just need to find the time and motivation to get down to it.

As mentioned earlier, I've been busy with the Fifty Shades trilogy. And now I'm done with it. And suffering a little from withdrawal symptoms, as I always do when I get too engrossed in a story-line, whether in a book or on TV. I'm not a big fan of the writing style because it's too amateur for my liking. But at the same time, I think it's the amateur writing style that makes the writing so much more relatable and real. But I liked it because it is right up my alley. And Jude has enjoyed the after-effects of me reading it ;) I'll stop here now :p

Geez I'm really not inspired to write about anything now. Time to stop rambling and get to sleep.
