Feet grabber.

Quick post.

X is cranky today because the construction site right outside his little window is so incredibly loud and noisy today.
On top of that, our a**hole upstairs neighbour has got some drilling and hammering and general banging going on.
That all comes together to create a sleepless day for my lil X, who gets really upset if he doesn't get to sleep.
GAH.

I just wanted to come on here and make sure I note down that X is finally starting to grab his toys.
He's been batting at them for months now (ok, just 2 months), but never could gather his motor skills together to grab them purposefully.
And now it's happening :)
Started with the dangling toys on his rocker.
Then this morning, I held up his little blue bear comforter in front of him and he grabbed it, staring at it super intently.
=)

Also, he has discovered his little feet!
Sitting on his rocker and in the car seat, he would stare in amazement at his feet,
wriggling his toes at the same time.
So super fascinating to him ;)
He would try his darnest to sit up to reach for his feet, but obviously he's not there yet.
This morning I put him on my lap facing me while he did his 'morning business', and he reached for his feet.
Initially, he opened and closed his hands to try and grab his toes.
But at the same time, he would wriggle his toes and they would go out of reach.
So he kept on doing that, while I just sat back and watched him.
Finally, he worked out that he needed to not move his feet so that he can grab them.
And it happened!
My heart swelled.
Such a tiny little thing,
but represents another milestone that he's reaching.
I swear my heart exploded when he looked up at me after succeeding and smiled.
Like "look mummy! i did it!"
=)
I'm glad, on hindsight, that I gave him that opportunity this morning.
Instead of putting him in his cot while I cleaned up his room,
I chose to sit down with him and give him all my attention, just for that short 15 minutes.
If I didn't, he wouldn't have had that opportunity to find his feet.

Note to self: make sure he has more such opportunities.

I have a video of him staring at his feet while in the car seat... will add it here once it's been uploaded.

He is growing so quickly, physically, that we had to retire his change table that has served us ever so faithfully in the past almost-4 months.
He had out-grown it and was constantly kicking the edge of it with his feet.
He does that with such brute strength that I'm sure he would break something soon if we didn't change the situation.
Either the table or his feet.
Either way, no good.
So we went out and got a new one.

A simple foldable canvas one that's longer and stands taller.
His tall daddy likes it ;)
Hopefully he doesn't outgrow this too quickly.
Either that or by the time he outgrows it, he probably won't wanna have anything to do with the change table anymore.
He will have a new one, and it'll be known as "anywhere will do".
Hah!

Ok I have another post in mind,
but it will have to stay there - in my mind - for a while more.
Gotta go!
